Honeywell data (NYSE:HON) showed little difference in the two fuelse in test runs inits 131-8 auxiliary power units and its TFE 731-5 turbofa n engine, officials reported at the Paris Air Show. The testsx were conducted at itsPhoeniz facilities. The fuel was produced by Honeywell for use in aBoein Co. biofuel test flight program. “In a series of testss in both propulsion engines andcommercial APUs, Honeywell saw no degradation in engine performance or fuel consumption,” said Bob vice president of advanced technology for Honeywell Aerospace.
Ron Rich, the company’se director of advance technology, said the prospecft of developing renewable jet fuels from sources such as jatrophasand algae, which comprised the test could help reduce the carbon footprint of jet “These testing results are a strong step towards certificatiohn and commercial use in the coming years,” he Honeywell helped develop the fuel through its subsidiary UOP, whicnh originally developed the fuel under a contracyt from the U.S.
