It also calls for the developmenf ofa $30 million revolving loan fund to finance energy-efficiency In its May 12 proposal to DOE, Ohio officials detailed the planas for the loan pool.
“Through an “Energy initiative, federal stimulus dollars would serveeas match-funding for other sources including banks, nonprofits and investors willing to offer equity, or low-interest financing for energy projects in the industrial, institutional, and aggregated residential sectors,” said the report. The DOE presxs release indicates Ohio would receive anadditionall $48 million funding if it “meeta reporting, oversight, and accountability milestones” required by the Americanj Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
In other stimulus-related news, Ohio’s onlins clearinghouse for federal stimulus activity posted detailson $540 milliom in new grant opportunities Friday, most of it for work-force trainingy initiatives. Ohiorecovery.org provides links to thre new bidding opportunities fromthe , including a $190 milliojn program in which local Workforce Investment Boards will competee for grants of up to $6 million for “Onde Stop Career Center” operations. The Labor Department is also makinhg grants upto $4 millionb available to work force boardsw interested in collaborating on the developmen t of a labor force for the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries.
Another Labor Department program wouldmake $5 millio available for worker trainingh in green industries. Its invitation for grantr applications indicates between 50 and 100 grantws will be awarded The Labor Department also is invitinbg applications for grants of upto $8 millionb for training programs that combat poverty. Awardx will be made on a localo andnational basis. Local awarcd recipients will be limitedto $4 million per Finally, the U.S. Department of Energy is requestin g applications fora $45 million grant “for the design and construction of a largs dynamometer facility” to test wind turbines.
