Kansas Health Policy Authority will cut 14 jobs - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal:

According to a release, 13 staff membere were informed Friday that their jobs would be effectiveJuly 2. Authority spokesman Peter Hancocki said in an interview Monday that the policyt director position also will be eliminated as executive staff positions are reducee from fiveto four. Barb Langnere will move out of that position to servs as actingMedicaid director, according to the release. Hancock said that the authority’sz operational budget has been cutby $3.5 million for the fiscapl year that begins July 1.
According to the the authority also is reducing spending with the contractor that processesw claims for payment under Medicaid and theStats Children’s Health Insurance Program. That move is expecter to save $3.6 million. Savings from the contractg reductions are shared with thefederalo government, which funds more than half of Medicaisd administrative costs, according to the release. The authoritty is responsible for coordinating a statewidee health policy agenda that incorporatews effective purchasing and administration with healtupromotion strategies. All health insurance purchasing by the state is combinefd underthe authority.
The authority also is responsible for compilinb and distributing uniform health care data to provider healthcare consumers, payers, providers and policy-makerx with information regarding trends in the use and cost of health care for improved decision making.
